MARINA ZIOLKOWSKI

Marina Ziolkowski is a French-American filmmaker. Raised in a family of screenwriters, she learned storytelling at an early age.

Trained in dramatic arts (Conservatoire, Studio d’Asnières, Cours Florent), she began her career with experimental videos before directing her short film "But You Look So Good" in Los Angeles, starring Natasha Basset (Elvis) and Dey Young (Pretty Woman), which won several awards.

Back in Paris, she was selected for the Groupe Ouest residency for emerging filmmakers in 2021. Her short film, "19", featuring Marie Denarnaud (Les Corps Impatients, Les Adoptés), was nominated for Best Short Film at the French Academy Awards the same year.

Her short," Extra Large", featuring feminist activist and DJ Barbara Butch, is a bold fairy tale supported by CNC Talent and Canal+, and was selected in competition at the 2023 Paris Courts Devant Festival. Her latest short,"All Women Do It", starring Roxane Mesquida (A ma soeur, Kaboom, Rubber) and Mathieu Demy (Mytho, La pampa, Club zéro), has also achieved festival success.

Marina tackles powerful themes — domestic violence, beauty standards, motherhood, invisible illness — through strong female characters, always with a touch of humor. She enjoys blending genres and techniques; this hybrid artistic universe is central to her directorial identity.

She is currently working on two feature films: The Girl, adapted from Samantha Geimer’s memoir, and Destination Rose Bonbon (Le Groupe Ouest, 2021 selection).
